Steve and Candice Watters

We celebrated our 20th anniversary this year, and spent a few days in Asheville, NC, recounting God’s faithfulness over two decades of marriage and 18 years of parenting.

Our story together began at Regent University where we were studying (as friends) the effects of laws and government policy on families. After earning M.A. degrees in public policy, we got married. Then we moved to Colorado Springs where we worked with Focus on the Family to create, a webzine encouraging young adults to walk faithfully on their path to getting married and starting families. In Colorado, God multiplied our tribe to include Harrison, Zoe, Churchill, and Teddy (now 18, 16, 11, and 9).

We’ve spent the past seven years in Louisville, KY, studying Scripture and growing in our understanding of God’s design for marriage and family as Steve earned his M.A. in family ministry from Southern Seminary. Along the way, we’ve focused on teaching Bible studies, leading small groups, and speaking about marriage and parenting in our desire to equip other believing Christians in their roles as husbands and wives and fathers and mothers.

Now we work with Truth78 (, a ministry that encourages churches and parents to intentionally nurture the next generations' faith in Christ. We produce resources that engage the mind, instruct the heart, and influence the will of children and youth by teaching the whole counsel of God.

We’re passionate about applying the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the relationships lived day-in and day-out in the family, because, apart from Christ, we can do nothing. In John 15:5, Jesus says,

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

We have witnessed the folly of trying to do the often bone-wearying work of marriage and parenting without Him. But He has not left us to ourselves. We have experienced the goodness of abiding in Christ and felt his His life-giving sap strengthening us to do this work for His glory. And that has made all the difference.

It is our passion to help families thrive in the strength that God supplies so that the earth may be "full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea" (Isaiah 11:9).
